Discretionary investment management services from Fairbairn Private Bank

The UK Retail Distribution Review (RDR) has meant that most, if not all, adviser businesses in the UK are reviewing their strategies in preparation for the new rules commencing on 1 January 2013. Many may conclude that delegating the management of investment portfolios to a full time investment specialist will be in the best interest of a portion of their client base.

After the market turbulence over the last few years, many advisers feel that they have neither the resource nor the skills to manage investment portfolios. Some advisers may consider that they do have these skills, but either no longer want to shoulder the risk and responsibility, or have decided that this is not going to form part of their service proposition going forward. Outsourcing the management of investment portfolios to Fairbairn Private Bank means that the adviser can focus on financial advice and building a lasting relationship. And for the client it gives them a sense of receiving a 'premium service', with a bespoke investment offering, personal service, regular contact and sophisticated reporting.

We have been working closely with professional advisers and their clients for many years, and are ideally placed to adapt to the changing requirements and the ever-increasing sophistication in the asset management arena. Our claims are supported by the independent recognition we have received from various awarding bodies. Our discretionary investment management service was shortlisted for the category 'Investment Performance - Growth Portfolio' in the 2010 PAM awards, for our high risk strategy portfolio. And we have also been awarded the title of 'Best International Wealth Manager', for the second year running, at the 2010 International Investment Fund and Product Awards.

Of particular interest, is that we can now also offer our discretionary investment management services through offshore insurance bonds. Designed to achieve capital growth over the medium to long term, offshore insurance bonds may also provide worthwhile tax efficiencies for certain investors. We have agreements in place with a number of insurance providers, allowing advisers to take advantage of their existing agency agreements held with these insurance providers.
