Password renewal important information

Security information for clients with internet access

It is no longer mandatory for our clients’ online passwords to be changed regularly. This decision is based on feedback received from our clients. However, we do recommend that all clients change their online password at least every 60 days, by using the password change facility online. This is to help maintain the security of the account. To help select a safe and secure password, we have provided some hints and tips below:

A good password:

  • Needn't be a word at all. It can be a combination of letters and numbers.
  • Is at least seven characters long. Longer passwords are harder to guess or break.
  • Does not contain your user name, real name or company name.
  • Contains a mix of upper and lower case letters and numbers.
  • Is changed regularly - we recommend that you change your online password at least every 60 days.

Do not use weak passwords, such as:

  • Commonplace dictionary words.
  • Something that is easy to work out with a little background knowledge, for example: favourite football team, birthday, spouse's name etc.
  • The most common password is 'Password' so that is an obvious one to avoid.
  • A password that you have used on your PC system or other websites.
