Fairbairn Private Bank receives top 50 ranking

7 March 2007

TOP 50 RANKING FOR FAIRBAIRN PRIVATE BANK

Fairbairn Private Bank has once again been listed as one of the best small companies to work for in the 2007 Sunday Times 100 Best Small Companies to Work For, published this month.

The bank, with offices in the Isle of Man and Jersey, has been included in the Top 100 listing for the last three years. During this time, the bank has moved from 85th to 73rd and now to an impressive 45th. Fairbairn Private Bank is one of only four companies to retain and continually improve its position over a three year period and of these companies it is the largest and most profitable. The bank remains the first and only British offshore island financial services business to ever feature in this highly coveted listing.

Staff at Fairbairn Private Bank give their job security a positive rating of 85% and are pleased with the impressive range of benefits on offer. 62% of staff say they don’t feel exhausted after a day at work, ranking the Bank eighth on this measure. 80% of staff say they have a good work/life balance and 85% say they have confidence in the senior leadership of the bank.

Greg Horton, Fairbairn Private Bank’s Managing Director (pictured receiving the award from John Waples, Sunday Times Business Editor), commented: “This is a spectacular achievement for the bank and we are all delighted at having moved up for the third successive year and into the Top 50. To move up the listing year on year is a real achievement, especially when over half the companies fell off the listing both this year and last. It is pleasing to know that our staff continue to feel so positively about their place of work and as such, the business reaps the rewards in terms of staff dedication and commitment.”

Greg continued: “This listing is a testament to the success experienced by Fairbairn Private Bank in recent years, particularly receiving the Best Offshore Bank* accolade for the 5th year running and achieving the highly prestigious Two Star status (ranked as Outstanding) in the Best Companies business accreditation system** earlier this year.”

Hon. David Cretney, Isle of Man Minister for Trade and Industry, said:  “Fairbairn Private Bank has proven its commitment to excellence:  firstly, to its staff by winning both this award and a National Training Award; and secondly to its customers by winning industry awards for both product excellence and customer service.  I congratulate the bank, which reflects the success of the Isle of Man, where many individuals and organisations have found an environment that gives them the opportunity to achieve their potential. As a result our economy continues to grow at three times the rate of the EU and our community continues to flourish.”

* The Best Offshore Bank award has been won by the bank for five years running (from 2001 to 2006) in the International Investment Offshore Fund and Product Awards, held in association with Standard & Poor’s.

** Launched last year, Best Companies Accreditation has been established to acknowledge corporate excellence in the workplace. This elite accreditation takes the format of a Michelin style star system with company performance awarded one star for first class, two stars for outstanding and three stars for extraordinary.
