FAIRBAIRN PRIVATE BANK
STAFF RAISE £875 FOR ISLAND PINK DAY
Fairbairn Private Bank staff raised £875 for
Breakthrough Breast Cancer during the island’s National Pink
Day on Friday 26th October. A variety of fun activities were
held during the day, with all funds raised going towards the
charity’s important research, campaigning and education work.
The office had a distinctive pink theme
during the day, with staff sporting an impressive array of pink
clothing. ‘In The Pink’ Hampers were raffled off, toasted
sandwiches were sold and a ‘Who’s looking pretty in pink?’ photo
quiz took place, bringing out the staff’s competitive streaks.
Managing Director, Greg Horton, bravely
agreed to dress up in pink for the day, if enough money was raised.
Much to Greg’s disappointment, and to the delight of everyone at
the bank, more than £300 was raised, and by close of business, Greg
was wearing a fetching array of pink garments including mini skirt
and leg warmers, which attracted a few wolf-whistles! The day
culminated with a Pink Party, where everyone let their hair down
with pink drinks, a buffet and party music.
The day was mostly about fun but also had a
serious side to it. Breast Cancer Awareness posters and flyers were
on display for all staff to read.
The bank also sponsored the wine at the Pink
Tie Ball, held on Saturday 27 October, as part of the Isle of Woman
fundraising events.
Comments Greg Horton, “I had hoped that I’d
get away with wearing just a pink tie! Despite the personal
embarrassment endured, I was very impressed by peoples’ generosity
and willingness to give support to such a worthy cause. This was
above all the most impressive feature of the day.”
