29 September 2010

TOP FORM AT THE FAIRBAIRN PRIVATE BANK ORDER OF MERIT EVENT

The Fairbairn Private Bank Order of Merit event came to a close on Sunday 12 September 2010, with Paul Lowey of Rowany Golf Club securing first place as the overall winner of the event.

Paul amassed the most order of merit points from playing in the Isle of Man Golf Union competitions during the season, which included two 36 hole competitions held in May and September, the W.A. Kirkpatrick Trophy and the Isle of Man Close Amateur Championship.

Joint runners-up were Andrew Challenor of Castletown Golf Club and Kevin Moore of Douglas Golf Club.

This is the first year that Fairbairn Private Bank has sponsored the order of merit competition and the bank will continue their sponsorship over a three year period. The Venerable Brian Partington OBE, president of the Isle of Man Golf Union, paid special thanks to the bank as the sponsor of the events, and went on to say that the overall winner’s prize will be presented at the IOMGU annual dinner on Friday 4  February 2011.
