Old Mutual in top 35
Old Mutual is once again in the top 35 of the
50 best performing companies in Europe. We came in at number 32
this year, which keeps us in the top 35 - last year we held 30th
position.
BusinessWeek made their BusinessWeek 50
announcement in London last week. This is their sixth annual
ranking of the best-performing companies within the S&P
European BW 350. The winner was German financial company Deutsche
Boerse, with Nobel Biocare Holding (Switzerland), Nokia (Finland),
Drax Group (Britain) and Vallourec (France) also in the top
five.
The European BW50 is calculated using Standard
and Poor's Europe 350. This is one of the leading indexes measuring
performance of major corporations in 17 Western European markets,
including 12 members of the euro zone. The most important gauge for
rankings is sales growth and earnings. Three-year growth, net
margins and return on equity are also some of the important factors
in choosing the best of the best.
