Two teams were entered into this year's Jersey Marathon
Earlier this month, Fairbairn Private Bank and Fairbairn Trust
entered two teams to take part in the Standard Chartered Jersey
Marathon. The two mixed teams, which consisted of five
members from the banking team and five members from the trust team,
braved the rain and wind to compete in this challenging run.
For five years the Standard Chartered Jersey Marathon has
started on the streets of St Helier and run through some of the
Island's most scenic spots, taking in country lanes, picturesque
valleys and the beautiful coast of Jersey. However, this is the
second time the trust team and the banking team have gone head to
head in this marathon, with the banking team narrowly beating the
trust team in 2008.
This year our runners competed to raise money for the bank's
four staff-nominated charities who are, Hospice Isle of Man,
Macmillan Cancer Support Isle of Man, Jersey Hospice Care and Side
by Side. They braved the elements to participate in some
friendly company rivalry but, once again, it was the banking team
that came out on top.
Well done to both our teams that entered, it was a great
achievement to come 19th (banking team) and
22nd (trust team) out of 264. Hopefully, the trust
team will be able to make a comeback next year.
